John Taylor to head up our Senior QAFLW team for the next two years.
John Taylor, a name well known and respected throughout Queensland football will take over the reins from Jacob Simmons Bliss as head coach of our QAFLW team for the next 2 years.
The club is delighted to have this appointment in place so quickly after Jacob decided to step down after four years at the helm.
John commenced his association with AFL football in 1970 as a junior player for the Windsor Zillmere Football Club and played through the ranks finishing with 100 Senior games. His involvement in the game lead to a full time job with the QAFL as a Junior Development Officer with his primary role to promote AFL at schools, assist local clubs and run Level 1 & 2 Coaching Courses.
John has held several coaching roles including the Lions Academy U15/16 females, Brumbies U17 females for 2 years and the Senior coach of Zillmere FC Women’s team in 2016.
John has spent the last 12 months as an Assistant coach with the Gold Coast Suns AFLW team, and comes to our club with a vast amount of experience especially in the Women’s space.
Johns appointment will commence a new phase of our Women’s program and he will use the foundation set up by Jacob and his coaching staff, as the base to grow our Women’s program into the very best in South East Queensland.
