On Sunday Aspley Hornets Youth Girls graduate Kamala Cemeljic will take to the field at Leyshon Park, Yeronga, in the QWFA Division 1 Grand Final as a part of the Hornets Senior Women’s team.
In her first season of senior football after graduating from the Hornets U17 Youth Girls team in 2017, Cemeljic has quickly earned the respect of her teammates and coaches thanks to her exceptional work rate and humble attitude combined with her desire to seek out learning opportunities both on the training track and on game day.
Cemeljic commenced the season in the Hornets QWFA Division 2 side (the Club’s Reserve women’s side) and has worked her way into becoming a regular part of the Club’s QWFA Division 1 side thanks to her fast-tracked development as a part of the Hornets Senior Women’s Playing Squad.
Hornets Women’s Senior Coach Jacob Simmons-Bliss couldn’t speak any higher of Cemeljic’s quick rise into the Club’s senior side. “Kamala is the perfect example of what the development culture that our playing group and coaching team drive, can achieve. Kamala has gone about her footy this year in such a respectable way and has really earned her stripes across the season through her positive attitude to learning and her professionalism in regards to training and the way she goes about playing her role with a team first approach. Kamala has earned an immense amount of respect from her peers with many of our senior players urging the match committee to select Kamala in our senior side each and every week. Kamala has lead the way in terms of successfully bringing Hornets Youth Girls graduates into the Club’s senior women’s program and developing them into quality senior-grade footballers who can perform with confidence at a high level”.
Make sure you make it down to Leyshon Park at 12:30pm this Sunday to cheer on Kamala and our QWFA Division 1 side in the Grand Final.
