Michael Smith to Coach QFA Division 1

Michael Smith
The Club is please to announce Michael Smith as our QFA Div 1 Senior Coach for the 2021 Season
Michael grew up in the northern suburbs of Brisbane playing for Windsor Zillmere. He played senior football in Sydney for Wollongong, North Shore & Campbell Town as well as seasons in Brisbane for Zillmere and even a year with the Mighty Hornets in 2015.
Since retiring from playing Michael has been coaching at Sandgate with both their Youth Teams and Senior sides.
Assistant coach of the Brisbane North U16 Team in 2017, Michael has completed his Level 2 Coaching accreditation and will work closely with our VFL Development Coach Jarad Marsh on helping to continue to focus on developing our emerging Hornets.
When asked what he is most looking forward to about Coaching the Hornets QFA team – “The opportunity to work with a senior group with a great foundation combined with a talented young brigade coming through. I’m aiming to provide an environment where local players can enjoy their football and develop to their full potential to capitalise on the pathway that the Hornets provides. I am also looking forward to working with a quality coaching group and developing my skills further which in turn will help the players I coach.”
The Hornets wish Michael all the best for the upcoming season and know that he will continue to move our club in the right direction.
The QFA team will do a shortened pre Christmas program due to the late season finish in 2020. All current and new players are encouraged to come down to Graham Road on Wednesday 2nd 6pm, Wednesday 9th 6pm & Saturday 12th (time TBC) December.
